Profile: Meet the Dobyns FamilyBecky DobynsShe was a miracle baby. She was really sick. She was born with hydrops. She was 9 pounds, 13 ounces andshe was 35 weeks and two days for gestational age. So I went to an emergency C-section, and it turns out shehas episodes of SVT, which caused her to swell up.Michael DobynsI don’t know if you can see it, but this is what she looked like the first day she was born.The first response we got was that she had a two percent chance of making it, and then it was about 10percent chance from every day after that first day.I don't like to get emotional, but it was tough. The drive from County to over here at Loma Linda and the carride alone, I would break down each time coming from the hospital to come here.But those first few days, the first couple of weeks, you basically feel helpless. There's nothing really you can dobut just sit there and watch. You can stick your finger out and she'll hold your finger, but there's not reallyanything else you can really do. You just hope she gets better.Becky DobynsBut in a matter of less than three weeks, she's completely better. She's lost a ton of weight. She lost her fluid.The nurses have all been great. They have so much more here to offer her in order to help her get better. And Ireally think because she was here is why she was able to get better so quickly.Michael DobynsI'd say the overall experience here with Emma has been great. I'd definitely say that first hour and half ofholding her was worth the three weeks that we've been here away from home.Becky DobynsShe's stable and she gets to go home with us, I think hopefully today. So we're really excited. It's our first babyand she's going to be spoiled to death. Can't put into words how much we love her and care about her.
